It's time to prune any spring flowering shrubs such as forsythia, lilac, rhododendron and azalea if they are past bloom. Pruning now is the best time before they set next year's flower blooms. For reblooming lilacs such as Bloomerang, prune past blooms and the plant will bloom again this summer on new wood.
